Do you need to quit your 9-to-5 job to get out of your comfort zone?

Or do you really need to start a business to grow?

Before you read any further, I want to make it clear that this is not an article slamming 9-to-5 jobs. I am one of those people who work 9-to-5 jobs (or, more precisely, 9-to-6 jobs for me) in order to pay all of my bills and live comfortably. So, if you’re reading this because you expected me to criticize 9-to-5 jobs, you’re fine to skip.

I read a lot of articles encouraging people to quit their 9-to-5 jobs because they are a waste of time. They claimed that working for these jobs meant remaining in one’s comfort zone, which left no chance for development. You work and grind for 8 hours doing the same task over and over, which can be soul-crushing and lead to burnout. And, in the end, the bosses will benefit from it all, which is rather disheartening.

I agree with this to a certain degree, but having a 9-to-5 job is not entirely awful. It’s unjust to state that having a 9-to-5 job offers nothing good. All these folks who speak negatively and criticize people for working 9-to-5 jobs make working in one sound inferior to owning a business. As someone who works in an office for 8 hours a day, I can assure you that the job is not as simple as people make it out to be.
